RESPECTING RESPECT

God,
True respect for You
   is overdue.
Believing cliches fall
  more easily 
      from the lips
than reverent
   respect
   springs from the heart.

You hold the secrets
   of the universe
which You created.
All nature moves at
   Your command.

We humans are not
   so wise we can presume
to pick and choose
   among your precepts.

Give us pure hearts and 
   obedient, simple faith
like little children, who are
declared to be the greatest
in the kingdom of heaven..
