That serpent kept twisting--
Twisting your mind,
To suggest to your head
That God was unkind.
So that really was
And obedience test;
Satan got you to doubt
God knew what was best.
Oh, but that serpent
Was wicked and wily.
He shaded the truth,
Assuring you slyly:
"If you eat of this tree--
You surely won't die!"
Did he laugh to himself
About his whopping-big lie?
Eve, did you hear
A warning deep down inside you
When you reached for the fruit
God had denied you?
