When you spoke with the serpent
In the garden one day,
Did you have any sense
You should be running away?

The creature, so cunning,
Tried to make God seem mean–
For not letting you eat
From one tree you had seen.

God had warned Adam
Not to eat of that tree–
Though the fruit seemed luscious,
And was pleasant to see.

Did you know if you tasted
The fruit on that day,
It would make you wise
In an unhappy way?
