ATTAINMENT

God, I appreciated You
  most after
  well-meaning people
  assured me, 
'You can be healed.'
         But I'm not.

And others exulted, 
'I never
  have a bad day
  anymore.'
          But I do.

And some bubbled about
  continual, 
  rosy
  mountaintop 
  experiences
     which could be mine
     if I'd believe as
     guilelessly as they. 
          But I haven't attained
          those heights.

God, I don't have
  to be riding
     the wings of the wind
          to know
Your blessing.
